Are you tired of the beaten path? Are you ready to find adventure where trails don’t lead? This class is your guide to getting off the trails and into the unfamiliar. We’ll do a deep dive into the intricacies of planning effective and efficient routes across diverse terrain, maintain course, navigate around obstacles and how to track your progress. You’ll learn to use handrails and benchmarks as your navigational allies to ensure you never get lost. Some basic experience with a map and compass is helpful for this course. We provide all navigation materials, but if you have a compass of your own feel free to bring it. Please wear clothes appropriate for weather conditions and bring a small backpack with water, sunscreen, bug spray and a snack. This class typically lasts around 4 hours depending on skill level and knowledge of participants.
