Private Training for Mountain Biking Coaches

Wilderness First Aid & CPR Certification

IMG_8750.JPG

You already know how to handle a gnarly descent. You're great at coaching your students through the scary parts. But do you know what to do when your student crashes on the way down?

When things go sideways on the trail — a crash, a cardiac event, a head injury three miles from the trailhead — you don't rise to the occasion. You fall to your level of training.

This private certification was built specifically for mountain biking coaches and outdoor professionals who need real wilderness medicine skills, not a watered-down classroom course. In two and a half days, you'll leave with both your Wilderness First Aid certification and a CPR/AED card — plus the kind of practiced calm that only comes from having been thrown into realistic, messy, high-pressure scenarios until the right responses become automatic.

Wilderness First Aid Certification
The gold-standard patient assessment system used by NOLS, SOLO, and WMA — drilled through real-world scenarios until it's second nature. You'll learn to assess, stabilize, and make critical decisions when the nearest hospital is a long ride and a longer drive away.

CPR/AED Certification
Hands-on CPR and AED training held Friday afternoon.

Scenarios built for your world
Broken collar bones. Head and neck injuries. Cardiac events on remote trails. Environmental emergencies. We build the scenarios around the situations mountain bike coaches and outdoor pros actually face - nothing generic.

What You'll Learn

While you're working through real-world scenarios in the field, you'll master the critical skills that could save a life—and more importantly, that give you the competence to venture confidently into wild places.

  • Patient assessment - The foundation of every backcountry emergency response

  • Trauma management - Controlling bleeding, treating wounds, stabilizing injuries

  • Head and Spinal Injuries- Critical for high speed sports

  • Musculoskeletal injuries - Splinting, improvising support, deciding on evacuation

  • Environmental emergencies - Recognizing and treating hypothermia, heat illness, lightning strikes

  • Medical emergencies - Allergic reactions, cardiac events, diabetic issues in the field

  • Evacuation protocols - When to evacuate, when to shelter in place, how to communicate for rescue

  • Improvisation skills - Crafting solutions with limited gear

  • Decision-making under pressure - Staying calm and effective when it matters most

About your Instructor

Ali has been a Wilderness First Responder since 2010, with extensive experience managing medical emergencies while leading expeditions across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. She previously managed wilderness medicine training and protocols for Absolute Adventure in the UAE and Oman, and for Dragonfly Outdoors in Hong Kong. She served as medical coordinator for two remote mountain races in the Hajar Mountains — including a mountain biking race — and has spent over a decade throwing herself into situations where being wrong has real consequences.

Practice Makes Permanent

This isn't death-by-PowerPoint. We throw realistic emergencies at you—messy, stressful, urgent—so when the real thing happens on a trail somewhere, you aren't overwhelmed with panic but instead guided by your training.

There is a saying that practice makes permanent. We use the patient assessment system created by (NOLS) and then drill it over and over and over again, until becomes second nature.

You'll drill scenarios based on real incidents that Ali and her teammates have had to deal with in the backcountry in over a decade of leading trips in the wilderness.
