You love being outdoors- there is something about those wild, untamed places that beckons. You know deep down the reason. You've got a wild self buried under all the civilization.

But you realize there's a lot you don't know, and you don't want to end being carried out by a search and rescue team, or worse the missing person on the news. Your anxiety and fear is protecting you. You're smart to respect the wild. Your fear is pointing the way- what you're missing isn't courage or strength- it's knowledge, skills and capability. And those are things we can give you.

This is one night, a short and easy loop, a small group of women, and a guide who has spent fifteen years teaching people to feel at home in the wild. You’ll learn the basics, do it all with your own hands, and leave knowing you can.​

The Uwharries are older than the Appalachians—ancient peaks worn smooth by half a billion years, dense forests that feel different than younger ranges, hollows where cryptids are rumored to wander. These mountains have a reputation for mystery, and we're here to dive in.

​We'll traverse these old ridges together while cooking over open fires and sleeping beneath tarp shelters we construct each night. You'll learn how to find tinder in the wild, all the knots to rig a stormproof shelter, and perfect the art of cooking over fire.

Explore the wild and windswept uninhabited islands of Cape Lookout National seashore. We'll paddle through turquoise waters to reach a historic lighthouse, watch wild ponies wander through the dunes and fall asleep beneath the stars to the soothing sound of the waves each night.
*while we do call this trip a float, this trip is very physical, there is a good bit of paddling required. This trip is ideal for those with some kayaking experience*

These mountains are ancient — older than the Appalachians — and some say they're hiding a secret. We'll spend three days wandering these mysterious hills, hoping to catch a glimpse of the hide-and-seek champion who supposedly calls them home.
This relaxed-pace adventure still leaves plenty of room for real skill-building: building fires to cook over, navigating by landscape and compass, and learning to read the signs of the wild. Plus spooky stories around the campfire at night.
