Lisa

Lisa was born in Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii.

Lisa’s love of the outdoors - especially all things water related - started at an early age, the result of frequent beach trips and hiking excursions with her parents and her Aunt Meb and Uncle Jim. They instilled in her a love of nature and an understanding of how the mountains, lakes and rivers are ultimately connected to the seas and oceans.

In addition to working as an environmental educator for the North Carolina Division of Forest Resources and the North Carolina Aquariums, she also was the Communications Director for the North Carolina Clean Water Management Trust Fund, an agency dedicated to the protection and conservation of water quality all across the state. She was an outdoor school instructor for six years with Recreational Equipment Inc., where she taught stand up paddling, kayaking, mountain biking, outfitting and a variety of other classes.

Lisa is a competitive SUP and outrigger canoe paddler with a speciality in open ocean paddling and downwinding. She is the Managing Editor of paddlemonster.com, (formerly known as distressedmullet.com) a website and training outfit devoted to helping paddlers improve their skills.
