Halfway to Autumn - what have you grown?

Yesterday (August 1) was Lughnasadh- one of four Celtic fire festivals and a day that marks the halfway point between the summer solstice and the autumn equinox.

A Deep Fullness

If you've spent time outside lately, you've probably felt this deepening. The days are still long and hot- but there is a fullness to them that wasn't there in June. The greens are deeper, the light is more golden, the fields are tall and heavy with crops, and the fireflies glitter at dusk.

This is the fullness before the turn- the moment when summer has given everything it has, and the world begins — quietly, unhurriedly — to shift into what comes next.

Savor Late Summer Days

Go ahead and linger. If you haven't felt the shift yet, go find it. Float a river. Watch the sun go down from a high ridge or a riverbank. Sit on a porch with something cold and notice how the light has changed.

We'll be carving pumpkins before we know it. The fireflies won't last much longer. This particular quality of evening — warm and golden and full — is worth stopping for.

Then come do some things with us that'll make summer feel satisfied and autumn earned.
